Below are some links to family activities, events and workshops you may be interested in over the summer holidays:

Artz+ Sportz+
The Artz+ Sportz+ Summer Programme funded by Dorset Council provides school holiday arts and sports events for disabled and young people aged 5 to 18 and their families. Please note that their website currently says the events are closed until further notice, but they confirmed on 11th July that the events will still be going ahead and their website needs to be updated. To book your space, tel: 01305 252266

Contact – for families with disabled children
Free virtual family workshops on topics such as:

  • Money matters
  • Encouraging positive behaviour in young children
  • Wellbeing for parents of children with additional needs
  • Helping your young child sleep
  • Support for speech and language issues in young children

Primary Times – Dorset E-Newsletter
Primary Times usually publish a magazine which goes home to pupils detailing all the fun and exciting local events over the summer. However, this summer with things being as they are, they are instead asking parents and carers to sign up to their e-newsletter. The e-newsletters will offer links to virtual things to do and learning for children and will have the latest updated information as and when they receive it. The contributors will all be from the local community. They hope to be back with the magazine from 7th September.

Raring2go! Bournemouth
This summer, Raring2go have put together a digital magazine rather than a printed one so they can get lots of useful information out there for parents, help keep everyone healthy both physically and mentally and try to help some of the local businesses too. They are hoping to produce a printed magazine later in the year.

This issue covers topics like:

  • Holiday Clubs
  • Cycling (and Bikeability courses)
  • Keeping the beaches clean
  • Places to go, what attractions are doing to keep visitors safe and there are tickets to win to New Forest Wildlife Park.
  • Summer Reading Challenge
  • And for parents struggling with anxiety about their children returning to school.
